RYA Yachtmaster Offshore prep course (YO)
“All certificates are issued via C-Masters.”
The RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification represents a high standard of skippering experience and competence, recognised worldwide. It demonstrates your ability to skipper a yacht safely on offshore passages, including extended sailing by day and night. This course is aimed at experienced skippers who hold the RYA Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster Coastal qualification and are preparing for the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore examination.
Duration: The prep course is available as 5 days including a theory booster day session. The examination can take place during 2 days.
Location: Nieuwpoort (Belgium) or Kortgene (Zeeland, the Netherlands)

Assumed knowledge: Your knowledge of navigation, radar, diesel engine and meteorology should be to the standard of RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Offshore theory course.
You must hold an in date valid First Aid certificate and VHF GMDSS marine radio licence.
Previous experience: You should have at least:
50 days sea time (5 as skipper)
2500 recorded miles of which at least half on tidal waters
5 passages over 60 miles (including 2 overnight and 2 as skipper)
Language: English
Theory refresher covering offshore passage planning, navigation, meteorology, COLREGs, safety.
Intensive preparation for the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore exam, with continuous assessment and coaching.
Advanced boat handling under sail and engine.
Individual debriefs and targeted coaching to reach Yachtmaster Offshore exam standard
Achieve the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification.
The RYA Yachtmaster Offshore exam confirms your competence to skipper a yacht safely on offshore passages, by day and night. It assesses your experience, navigation, passage planning, boat handling, safety awareness, and leadership while you take full command of the yacht in real sea conditions. Successfully passing the exam demonstrates that you meet the internationally recognised RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore standard.
